Ledge House in NY

This home, designed for a family with two young children, consists of two floors plus a cellar space. Nested in a steep slope, we celebrated the concrete retaining wall by introducing a light well that spatially and programmatically connects all three floors. The living/dining area & kitchen, home offices and one of the bedrooms are located on the main floor, with the rest of the bedrooms located on the upper level.  The dramatic change in topography gave opportunities to the different level terraces, allowing family activities to spill out to the outdoors. Covered by a cantilevered roof forming the indoor/ outdoor living experience.
